Joining a fierce orange tribe – University of Tennessee Volunteers

When I was in Kenya, a local woman was so sad that my immediate family members where so spread out across America. I had no answer.

However, I can now tell her that I have become a member of an immense, more powerful tribe – the fans of the Tennessee Vols – by marrying my husband Gene, a fervent alumni (aren’t they all?).

For Gene’s birthday (a big number not to be mentioned), I wrangled four tickets to the Tennessee vs. Alabama game on Oct. 23. We invited Gene’s brother Forrest and nephew Drew. It was a blazing orange family affair to remember for life.
