Take a hoppy break from the medieval and renaissance architecture in Bruges, Belgium, with a visit to De Halve Maan Brewery. The only working brewery within the historic city walls, this family-owned business has been in operation since 1856.
The brewery’s beers include Brugse Zot, a delicious blonde beer. There is also a brown variety, Brugse Zot Dubble, which is denser and has a unique bitter flavour. The seasonal Brugse Bok has a malty aroma.
Take a moment to note De Halve Maan Brewery’s impressive collection of glasses on display. Each of the 1,300+ Belgian beers has its own design. When a new beer is invented, the appropriate shaped glass must be found so that drinkers can appreciate fully the beer’s flavour and aroma.
