New York City was dazzling sensory overload

My description of New York City?

Dazzling sensory overload. We spent 10 days:

  • walking miles and miles, through Central Park, along Fifth Avenue, Wall Street and Madison Avenue, passing through Union Square, Washington Square and Greenwich Village
  • celebrating the glory of art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Frick Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York Historical Society Museum and Library
  • riding in taxis, subway trains and ferries (Mayor Michael Bloomberg rode the Staten Island Ferry with us!)
  • shopping at Tiffany’s
  • lusting after oysters and decadent desserts in Grand Central Station
  • eating at so many fine restaurants – from The Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station to 15 East (which recently received a Michelin Star) to the Spotted Pig to the Golden Unicorn in Chinatown
  • zooming up to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at the top of Rockefeller Center
  • applauding Tom Hanks and his fellow actors at the end of their Broadway Show, “Lucky Guy,” a play by Nora Ephron that depicts the life of Mike McAlary
  • sipping drinks at The Ear – the oldest working bar in New York City
  • strolling along the High Line park built on the former elevated New York Central Railroad spur
  • marveling at all the ways M&M’s can be marketed in M&M’s World by Times Square
  • gazing at all the immense signs in Times Square
  • remembering the terrorist attack and honoring the victims at the September 11 Memorial
  • browsing at The Strand Book Store – home to 18 miles of books
